5 Motivating Quotes for Weight Loss

By Greg White

When you are attempting to lose weight, each bit of motivation you can glean from additional people is useful. One of my well-liked ways to stay inspired is by pondering insightful quotations and applying their knowledge to my life. Below I have shared 5 of my well-liked quotes pertaining to weight loss, health, and fitness, together with a few of my own thoughts about them. I am hoping they encourage you as much as they do me!

"To lengthen thy life, lessen thy meals." - Benjamin Franklin

I love this quote because it was recorded long before more latest scientific studies pointed to a clear relationship between consuming less and longevity. I think the general public naturally know that they feel better and enjoy better health when they keep their eating moderate, but it can be so simple to forget! Contemplating this quote frequently keeps reminding me that "less is more".

"Our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food." - Hippocrates

This quote stands in as a potent remembrance that shedding pounds is not just about cutting calories or sweating in the gymnasium. Too frequently we focus all of our attention on the end result and forget that our bodies are fine-tuned machines that must be maintained correctly so as to continue functioning well. Weight loss is just a welcome side benefit to the TRUE goal: good health and well-being. Wholesome food is just the "medicine" that helps cure a weighty body.

"At the end of every diet, the path curves back to the trough." - Mason Cooley

This quote is one of my well-liked because it reminds me that most traditional diets don't permanently provide a solution to the problem of being fat. Yes, most diets will work if you follow them for a couple of weeks or months, but if you just go back to eating like you usually did after the diet, you'll gain the weight back. When I ponder the true message in this quote, I'm reminded to concentrate my efforts on making long-term lifestyle changes that I'll stick with for the remainder of my life.

"You will never change your life until you change something you do daily." - Mike Murdock

Another preferred quote; I love the piece about changing something that you do DAILY. Weight loss isn't an one-time event. You have to change your daily habits, day after day after day to see results. This quote keeps me on track with the awareness that every small decision I make throughout the day has a huge impact on my eventual results. I can no longer say, "One small bite will not do any harm" because I'm sure that one small bite always leads to more little bites ultimately.

"It's not that some people have willpower and some do not. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not." - James Gordon

This quote serves as a wake-up call for me as it reminds me that shedding weight isn't difficult to do if I'm committed to making positive changes in my life. I used to whine about not having powerful enough self-control, but this quote helped me see that self-control isn't the issue. The true issue is my readiness to choose the life I desire and follow thru with the correct actions. If I keep sabotaging myself, it is not because I'm a loser. It is due to the fact I'm not prepared to tackle the changes that better actions will produce in my life.

Have you got any well-liked quotes that help to keep you motivated? If this is so I'd love to hear them! If not, start collecting some now - they actually boost your desire and keep you motivated!
